Psychiatry training requires the completion of an undergraduate degree, a medical degree, and a psychiatry residency.
Education
I completed my undergraduate training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning degrees in Chemistry and Philosophy. I completed my medical training at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. I also hold master's degrees in public health from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
Residency
I completed my psychiatry internship and residency at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, in partnership with the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System.
Fellowship
I am an alumnus of the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program, a prestigious public health fellowship and leadership program for physicians.
Psychotherapy Training
I completed advanced training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as a Beck Institute Scholar at the Beck Institute and I completed advanced training in attachment-based intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy (AB-ISTDP) with the California Society for ISTDP, under the supervision of Drs. Robert Neborsky, Josette ten-Have de Labije, and Robin Kay.
